We’ve launched SecuringCannabis.tech to help promote awareness of Information Security in the modern Cannabis industry and to make it more accessible. As the industry has grown in the United States, it hasn’t always been possible to think about Information Security, especially when you have to consider the complex operating requirements and costs associated with being an operator or dispensary.
Though as the years have passed since legalization and the licensed industry has begun, concern around Information Security has grown now that threat actors have turned their sights on the industry for personal gain, exploitation, and theft. Operating without considering and mitigating risks around Information Security is quickly becoming a non-option.
As practitioners who have been given the privilege to work in this budding industry, in the spirit of social equity and social justice, we hope we are able to provide a resource that helps smaller Cannabis operators / dispensaries who may not have the financial resource to afford an Information Security professional or third-party provider, to be able to take steps to secure their digital realms to help them compete and thrive.
